Beauty, and just all around physical appearance is something that I’ve struggled with for years. I can imagine that most ladies struggle with at some point in their lives. It’s almost inevitable with every girl unless you grow up without media or just some extraordinary influences in your life.
From an early age, I pretty much always thought I was chubby, which made me unattractive. I’ve almost always been in the correct BMI scale, but the BMI scale just indicates healthiness, not attractiveness or how much fat you can pinch on your skin. Most of the girls in school were always much prettier and thinner than me as well. I never really knew what to do with this information, I would sometimes be frustrated, other times I would work out a lot, or maybe just order a salad. I was stuck in this cycle that is all about what we look like. This continued through college, and definitely still manifests itself today. Pregnancy is definitely interesting for someone who’s struggled with their appearance based on weight.
I’m thankful that in the past few years, beauty has been redefined for me and that although I struggle still from time-to-time that I at least know with head knowledge that my worth does not come out of any sort of appearance that my body holds. It’s definitely a daily battle to believe this, but whenever we’re given truth – it can set us free from the negative thought patterns that we fall into.
My life struggle with wanting to be beautiful is one reason that I couldn’t be more honored to help a sweet new friend, Ashley Crouch, launch her new journal line aimed at helping women redefine beauty. The journal is incredible: it includes daily quotes and follow up questions that help us rewire these negative thought patterns in our mind centered around our beauty and worth. Over time, the aim is that our feelings of self-worth and knowledge of beauty would change and morph over time to allow us to see true beauty. There is even a fun little mobile app to go with your daily readings!
I got to partner with Ashley Crouch by taking some pretty images to help her with the launch process! It’s been incredible to work alongside other creatives that aren’t just wedding professionals. I got to meet Ashley through a new group called The Rising Tide Society (aimed at creatives encouraging other creatives). With all of that, I hope you enjoy these images of her beautiful journals, and even join me on Instagram for a little giveaway 🙂 If you want a journal for yourself and want to skip the giveaway head over to: http://www.ashleyncrouch.com/shop/bloomlovely
