Once Krista and I had figured out the logo (to be revealed with the website on Tuesday), we started working on the website. I sent her several examples of what I loved, was looking for and what I liked/did not like about each website. Most of them were filled with fun shapes, flowers, strong images that directed your eye toward them, etc. Once she knew what I loved, she started working on it.
A few days later, I received an e-mail from her asking if I had any more images that could serve as the header and “eye catcher” of the new website. I sent her everything I had – but I had never really shot for my brand before. There wasn’t anything in my portfolio that screamed “this is what Chelsea Anderson loves to shoot”. Once Krista and I realized that, she recommended doing a styled shoot for my brand.
Immediately I was overwhelmed. My goal was to get the website out at the beginning of my wedding season and styled shoots take so long to plan, and I had never done one before and had no idea what I was doing. I told Krista all of this and she suggested that I work with Kat of Dear Sweetheart Events to put together a quick bridal session that was styled shoot. Kat seemed like basically a celebrity to me that I would never be able to have the courage to introduce myself to – so Krista did the introductions from there and the rest happened before I could blink an eye!
Kat was amazing – she put everything together, perused my Pinterest board inspiration, ordered AND arranged all of the florals and put together an amazing vendor team SUPER quickly. I couldn’t believe how quickly it all happened. One of the hardest part of putting the shoot together was finding a model that fit exactly what I was looking for in the images. I had one particular images that deeply inspired me, but finding a girl who would fit well was hard. I remembered a girl I had been introduced to on Instagram and thought she might be great – her name is Lauren Simmons and is another photographer in the 757. I reintroduced myself and asked her if she might somehow be willing to travel to Charlottesville with me for the shoot – and somehow she agreed! I’m so thankful to not only meet her but for her to be the face of my new website!
If you’re a photographer and in a place where you’re building a new visual brand/website – I totally recommend putting together your own brand shoot – and if you need someone to work with to do it – Kat is amazing at what she does. Feel free to privately message or e-mail me if you have any questions or details behind how I did it! My e-mail is email@example.com 🙂
All in all – I’m so thankful to have some branded images to work with for my website launch on Tuesday! Stay tuned for some amazing giveaways and ALL the pretty!!
